When a friend or family member dies from cancer or heart disease, a donation to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association is a fitting memorial.
The Wise County Unit of the American Cancer Society (ACS) accepts donations and memorials at P.O. Box 428, Decatur, TX 76234. Donors are asked to include the name of the person the donation is made in memory or honor of and the name and address of the person to whom the acknowledgement is being sent. ACS also provides a thank-you card and envelope for the person receiving the donation acknowledgement. Call Chet Niblett at (940) 627-4356 with questions.
The Wise County Unit of the American Cancer Society annually sponsors Relay for Life in the spring. The all-night event raises funds for cancer research and education and for services for cancer patients in the county. The American Cancer Society’s web address is www.cancer.org.
Memorials to the American Heart Association (AHA) may be sent to 2401 Scott Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76103. The phone number is (817) 698-5400. Acknowledgements will be sent from the Fort Worth office.
The American Heart Association also maintains a website, www.heart.org that can answer just about any question a person may have about heart disease prevention and treatment, including high blood pressure and stroke.
