Bridgeport Historical Society

Concerned about the need for preserving the city’s history, members of the Bridgeport community began collaborating in 1994. Since then, the efforts of nine individuals became the Bridgeport Historical Society.

The organization operates a historical museum at 812B Halsell St. In addition to such artifacts as coal mine relics, oil and gas industry and the Rock Island Railroad displays, the new location also houses a stagecoach exhibit in honor of the town’s heritage along the Butterfield Stagecoach line. Membership fees are $5 per year.
